We will not leave the place till the rape survivor nun receives justice - Sister Anupama sent strong message to Church Body
Sister Anupama who is one of the nuns who was ordered to leave the convent by the Missionaries of Jesus has said that they will not leave the place till the nun receives justice. They were sent a transfer letter on Jan 10, 2019 from the church body to leave the Kuravilangad convent and go to their previous ones.
Sister Anupama has said that the nuns will continue their fight and added that they cannot move outside Kerala as there is a threat to their lives outside the state and no guarantee of protection by the authorities. She also said that the transfer letter was an act of vengeance by the church body
Sister Anupama said that the rape accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal has support from the Missionaries of Jesus and other church bodies but there are alone in their fight. Earlier in the case, the Syro Malabar Catholic Church, which has been under the spotlight over the controversy around Kerala nun rape case accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal, has published a statement in its monthly newsletter imploring devotees to boycott the media.
Bishop Franco Mulakkal was granted a conditional bail on October 15, following which he received a hero's welcome in Jalandhar on the very next day. This was the Bishop's second attempt to get the bail.
